Scholarship: Fully funded
Degree:  PhD
Nationality: International Students

Application deadlines: Open

Scholarship Description:

The Ding lab studies the mechanisms of autophagy and organelle homeostasis (focusing on lysosome, mitochondria and ER) in lipid metabolism in tissue injury (liver, adipose, pancreas and brain) and tumourigenesis. The lab has extensive expertise in organelle biology using unique mouse models in addition to primary cell culture. The lab has established several engineered mouse models of autophagy, mitochondrial dynamics and lysosomal function to study alcohol- and diet-induced fatty liver disease, drug-induced liver injury and liver cancer. The Ding lab is a friendly, training-oriented environment and has been very productive. Recent publications from the lab include: Gastroenterology 2018 (PMC6120772); Journal of Hepatology 2016 (PMC4143992); 2022a (PMC9449865); 2022b (PMC8858859); Hepatology 2023 (PMID: 35698731); Nature Communications 2022 (PMC9240011); Autophagy 2022 (PMC9298442). The full publication list of the Ding lab can be found at: https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/?term=ding+wen-xing&sort=date

Dr Ding is a recognised expert in the field of autophagy and liver diseases. Dr Ding is Section Editor of Autophagy, Associate Editor of Acta Pharmaceutica Sinica B; Associate Editor of Cell & Biosciences, and Editorial Board Member of Hepatology, Hepatology Communications, Am J Pathology, etc.

Dr Ding is a recipient of Live Scholar from AASLD (American Association of Studies of Liver Disease), Leading Edge in Basic Science Award from Society of Toxicology, Chancellor Club Research Award, NIH MERIT award etc. His trainees have also won numerous national and institutional awards and 4 of them are running their independent laboratories.
