Scholarship Description:

NCATS, a major research component of NIH seeks applications for a postdoctoral fellow position in bioanalytic assay development for therapeutical biologics in the intramural laboratories of drug metabolism and pharmacokinetics (DMPK) within the Division of Preclinical Innovation.


DMPK Core partners with collaborators (academic institutions, foundations, and private industry) to conduct preclinical discovery and development studies leading to Investigational New Drug (IND) applications for new therapeutics. These projects are leads in the NCATS’ mission to develop new ways to reduce, remove or bypass bottlenecks across the entire translational science continuum and address rare and neglected diseases.

The salary range is commensurate with experience by the NIH Postdoctoral Intramural Research Training Award and Visiting Fellow Stipend Ranges for All Areas; health insurance benefits are available.

Eligibility criteria:

Applicants possess a Ph.D. in biology, immunology, biochemistry, analytical chemistry, proteomics, pharmaceutical science, or a related field with a proven track record of quantitative bioanalytical method development (e.g., ligand binding assays); excellent skills to quantify active biologics in serum/plasma or tissues; and solid knowledge in method validation and data interpretation. Candidates with advanced knowledge and skills in High Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC), mass spectrometers, electrochemiluminescence ligand binding devices or related instruments, working on qPCR, TR-PCR, proteomics sample preparation, and immunogenicity assessment are preferred. The candidate should possess strong oral and written communication skills and excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to communicate clearly. Adaptability to work in a highly collaborative team setting.
