Scholarship Description:

In a laboratory at the Coriell Institute for Medical Research, we are seeking a highly motivated and organised individual to join our team and contribute to experimental animal model systems aimed at understanding the genetic and molecular mechanisms regulating haematopoietic stem cell function. Specifically, he/she will mainly perform experiments in haematopoietic stem cell research through a combination of independent and team-led projects. This person should be able to independently complete experiments or small research projects that require advanced knowledge and experience in a specific scientific area or discipline.

Eligibility criteria:

  1. The successful candidate will be proficient in mouse husbandry, PCR-based genotyping, cell culture, flow cytometry, DNA, RNA and protein isolation and detection techniques. In addition, the successful candidate will be proficient in standard molecular biology techniques and assays and have skills in molecular cloning, cell culture, western blotting and PCR.
  2. A Bachelor’s degree and 1-2 years’ experience or equivalent combination of education and experience is required. A working knowledge of general principles of genetics and molecular biology, accurate and timely record keeping, impeccable organisation and a demonstrated interest in working in a laboratory environment are required to excel in this role.
