Scholarship Description:
SMU’s fully upgraded high-speed computer clusters provide abundant computing resources, which serve as a strong backing for our group to further improve our research capabilities. As a result of our outstanding research results, our group was awarded a five-year CAREER research grant from the highly competitive National Science Foundation (NSF) in 2019. PhD students enrolled in our group have a wide range of career development opportunities. One of our PhD students has published seven first-author papers and five second-author papers during his time in the group and has been successfully employed by Google in California, USA, in a high-end software development position. Another current PhD student will join Facebook as a machine learning engineer after his PhD next year due to his excellent research and programming skills.

Eligibility criteria:
- Preference will be given to applicants with a background in: computational chemistry, biophysics, structural biology, machine learning applications in science, with a background in computer programming.
