Scholarship Description:
Dr. Hongchang Gao’s lab specializes in machine learning, optimization algorithms, and data mining, with a strong track record of publications in top conferences such as ICML, NeurIPS, AISTATS, KDD, AAAI, and ICCV.
He is a recipient of the NSF CAREER Award and the CISCO Faculty Research Award, and was featured in the AAAI New Faculty Highlights (2023). Additionally, Dr. Gao has served multiple times as an Area Chair for ICML and NeurIPS.

Eligibility criteria:
- Candidates with strong programming skills or a solid mathematical foundation will be given priority, especially those with a background in machine learning algorithms or optimization algorithms. A genuine interest in machine learning, a willingness to tackle cutting-edge problems, proactive communication and critical thinking skills, and the commitment to complete a PhD are essential.
