Scholarship Description:

Hamad Bin Khalifa University (HBKU) is a globally recognized research university ranked 183 in the QS World Rankings. The College of Science and Engineering was founded in 2010 by Professor Mounir Hamdi, former dean of the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, to provide technical solutions to global challenges.

Dr. Zhihe Lu joined the College of Science and Engineering at HBKU as an assistant professor in January 2025. He earned his PhD from the University of Surrey in 2022 and his master’s degree from the Institute of Automation, Chinese Academy of Sciences, in 2019. His research focuses on artificial intelligence and computer vision, including multimodal learning, transfer learning, few-shot learning, and sustainable learning. Dr. Lu aims to develop simple, efficient, and highly generalizable deep learning algorithms. He offers personalized guidance to researchers in his group and welcomes outstanding PhD candidates with academic potential.
