Scholarship Description:
The Energy and Environmental Geochemistry Laboratory uses experimental approaches, geochemical modeling, and synchrotron X-ray techniques to study water-rock interactions to solve in energy and environmental challenges.The departmental webpage of the PI is at https://www.stonybrook.edu/commcms/geosciences/people/_faculty/Q.%20Li.php. - Environmental Sciences/Engineering, Chemistry, Geochemistry, Biology/Biochemistry, Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, or related areas.
Eligibility criteria:
- CO2 mineralization in geologic formation to reduce climate change
- (Bio)geochemical alteration of reservoir rocks and infrastructure during underground H2 storage
- Fate/transport of contaminants in wastewater treatment through mineral reactions
- Nanoscale mineral dissolution and precipitation in environmental and energy systems
