Scholarship Description:
Dr. Wang Gaowei, the lab leader, holds a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering and a PhD in Biology. He completed postdoctoral research at UC San Diego School of Medicine and joined Nanjing University Modern Biological Research Institute in 2023 to establish the “Complex Diseases and Quantitative Biology” lab. The lab focuses on studying the mechanisms and key molecular processes of complex diseases such as diabetes, tumors, and leukemia through experimental, computational, and theoretical approaches. Their research aims to explore strategies for the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of these diseases, with major findings published in journals like Nature Genetics, Developmental Cell, and PNAS.
The lab has sufficient funding and is looking to hire 2-3 postdoctoral researchers and research assistants interested in interdisciplinary methods for studying the molecular mechanisms and treatment strategies of complex diseases. Positions are open until filled.
Available Subjects:
- Using an interdisciplinary approach that combines experimental, computational, and theoretical methods to study the mechanisms and progression of complex diseases such as diabetes, tumors, and leukemia.
Eligibility criteria:
- Must have obtained or be about to obtain a PhD in biology, basic medicine, or a related field, with solid experimental skills in biochemistry, molecular biology, and cell biology. Experience in relevant research projects and first-author publications is required.
- Interested in using experimental, computational, and theoretical approaches to study the molecular mechanisms and treatment strategies of complex diseases, with the ability to think independently and conduct research.
- Strong communication skills, a sense of responsibility, and a spirit of teamwork. Good English reading and writing skills are essential.
