Scholarship Description:

Dr. Cao Chan is a doctoral advisor in the Department of Chemical Biology at Nankai University’s Key Laboratory of Elemental Organic Chemistry. She is a researcher and one of the “Top 100 Young Academic Leaders.” Dr. Cao earned her Ph.D. from Nankai University in 2017 and participated in the national program for high-level university research students, conducting basic science research at Harvard University from 2014 to 2017. After completing her Ph.D., she continued postdoctoral research at Harvard until March 2021, when she joined Nankai University to establish an independent research group focusing on the chemical biology of membrane receptors and the discovery of new mechanisms for transmembrane drug receptor signaling.

Currently, she leads three national research projects and is part of Nankai University’s “Top 100 Young Discipline Leaders Training Program.” Dr. Cao serves on the Women Chemists Committee of the Chinese Chemical Society and as a youth editorial board member for the international journal Acta Materia Medica. She has published several high-level international research papers, including in Angew. Chem. (corresponding author), PNAS (first author), Nature (co-first author), and Advanced Science (co-first author). She has filed four Chinese patents, two PCT international patents, and holds one granted patent.

Eligibility criteria:

  • Preference for candidates with a background in cell biology, biochemistry, or chemical biology. Experience in publishing SCI papers is preferred. Basic skills in reading English literature and writing papers, with the ability to work independently and collaboratively. Generally under 35 years old, with a Ph.D. obtained within the last three years. At least one high-quality SCI article published as the first author. Candidates with a Ph.D. from domestic or international institutions, demonstrating high academic standards and the capability to undertake national research projects, with potential for faculty development.
