Scholarship Description:

The MicroTechnology Laboratory at Michigan State University seeks highly motivated Ph.D. students interested in multidisciplinary research on biomedical microelectromechanical systems (BioMEMS) for brain-machine interface and biochemical sensing applications. Projects will focus on the integration of multiple modalities (e.g. electrical, mechanical and chemical) in miniaturised devices for basic neuroscience research, chemical sensing and detection, and biomedical diagnosis and therapy. Candidates will be involved in ongoing research projects in collaboration with academic and industrial researchers, and will also be responsible for reporting and presenting research results at project meetings, mentoring/training students, and publishing new research results both at conferences and in high-impact scientific journals.

The MicroTechn Laboratory is headed by Dr Wen Li and is located in the Bioengineering Facility building at Michigan State University. Dr Li has nearly 20 years of research experience in inorganic/organic micro/nanoelectromechanical systems (MEMS/NEMS) for biomedical applications, neural prosthetics, and biomedical system packaging. Her group has published over 100 high-impact journal and conference proceedings papers and holds numerous US patents and patent applications.
