Scholarship Description:

Postdoctoral fellow positions are available in the laboratory of Dr. Xi Chen, Cullen Duncan McAshan Endowed Chair, Associate Professor, and CPRIT Scholar in Cancer Research at the Department of Molecular and Cellular Biology, Lester and Sue Smith Breast Center and Dan L. Duncan Comprehensive Cancer Center, Baylor College of Medicine.

The Chen lab studies stress responses and protein quality control in tumor immune microenvironment, immunotherapy, and therapy resistance. We are one of the first to establish the molecular connection between Unfolded Protein Response, oncogenesis and therapy resistance. Our highly translational studies have led to the first-in-human clinical trial of ER stress sensor IRE1 inhibitor and received FDA Fast Track Designation. Our long-term goals are to elucidate the significance and mechanisms of stress responses in cancer progression, anti-tumor immunity, and therapy resistance, and developing mechanism-based novel therapies to enhance immunosurveillance, overcome therapy resistance and transform cancer to a manageable chronic disease. The highly interdisciplinary and collaborative environment of the Chen lab provides unique career development opportunities for the postdoc trainees.
