Scholarship Description:
Our lab operates on the interface of immunology and radiology. We employ in vivo and ex vivo imaging techniques and immunologic assays to study a variety of disorders, including cardiovascular disease, cancer, and organ transplant rejection. Besides monitoring immune responses in these conditions, our multidisciplinary team develops nanotherapeutics to improve disease outcomes. The Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai provides a unique environment for immunoimaging research. For example, we have access to state-of-the-art flow cytometry and microscopy equipment as well as a large vivarium that enables executing extensive animal studies. In addition, the Institute’s cutting-edge imaging facilities (including PET, MR and CT modalities) allow innovative small and large animal imaging studies. Our dynamic team includes bioengineers, imaging experts, chemists and immunologists. We formally collaborate with investigators at Radboud University Medical Center in the Netherlands, New York University, Massachusetts General Hospital, and Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center.
