Scholarship Description:

Postdoctoral fellow positions are available in the laboratory of Dr. Zhipeng Meng for work on projects elucidating roles of the Hippo pathway and mechanotransduction in tissue regeneration, carcinogenesis, and microenvironment remodeling. Dr. Meng is an assistant professor in the Department of Molecular and Cellular Pharmacology in the Miller School of Medicine at the University of Miami and an affiliated member of the NCI-designated Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center. He has had an illustrious career in academic research, including first-author papers in Nature, Nature Communications, Hepatology, Journal of Hepatology, among others.  For more information, please visit his lab website: https://menglaboratory.com. 

Dr. Meng’s research has led to in total 46 peer-reviewed publications, including one recently accepted. The total number of citations to his work is over 5,000 times (over 4,500 times since 2016) based on Google Scholar, and his h-index is 34 by March 2021. His research is supported by Stanley J. Glaser Foundation Research Award and a substantial start-up package from the University of Miami and Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center. Dr. Meng has also recently earned an R35 award through the NIGMS-MIRA funding mechanism.

Eligibility criteria:

The successful candidates for the postdoctoral positions will have a doctoral degree (Ph.D or M.D) in a relevant background of biological/biomedical sciences, as well as a preferred track record of productivity in authoring peer-reviewed publications. Salary and fringe benefits for the postdoctoral positions will be supported by Dr. Meng’s startup package and federal grants, and commensurate with experience, expertise, and the University guidelines. 

The selected candidates will have the opportunities to employ molecular biology, biochemistry, bioengineering, and mouse genetics approaches in the research, and will benefit from the outstanding environment of the NCI-designated Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center and the Miller School of Medicine at the University of Miami for his scientific growth and career development.  Miami is one of the most international cities in the United States and has a very livable environment.
