Scholarship Description:

The successful appointee(s) will be working under the supervision and mentorship of Yuan Pan, PhD, Assistant Professor in the Department of Symptom Research. We are a well-funded young lab looking for one or more highly motivated individuals with a strong interest in neuroscience and/or cancer biology. Our team studies the neuron-cancer and neuron-glia interactions in neurofibromatosis type 1 (NF1), a cancer predisposition syndrome. We use state-of-art neuromodulatory techniques, preclinical mouse models, primary cell culture, and molecular biology approaches to achieve these goals.

The postdoctoral fellow(s) will gain an understanding of neuronal regulation of nervous system cancer and glia-mediated neurological deficits. They will learn skillsets in neuroscience, cancer biology, cell biology, and molecular biology. Dr. Pan will guide the postdoctoral fellow(s) in study design, data analysis, interpretation, presentation, manuscript writing, and grant application.
