Scholarship Description:
We have an opening for a postdoctoral research associate position in the Dr. Caigang Zhu lab within the Department of Biomedical Engineering and Markey Cancer Center at University of Kentucky. The prospective candidate will be expected to contribute to our cancer metabolism and metabolic imaging program in which she/he will have opportunities to conduct preclinical and translational research to understand the role of metabolism for cancer therapy resistance development, pursue patient-derived organotypic tumor models (organoids and live tumor slice culturing) developments for breast cancers and head and neck cancers treatment planning, and gain experiences in cutting edge metabolic imaging technologies. This position will also provide a unique opportunity to gain experience in a multidisciplinary research environment. Eligibility criteria:
- Candidates should hold a doctoral degree in an appropriate field of cancer biology or biological sciences. The applicant must be capable of developing experimental skills and have wet Lab experiences such as cell culture, immunofluorescence imaging, western blot, animal studies, tail vein injection, surgery. Previous experience in microscopy, metabolomics is particularly helpful. Excellent organization and communication skills are a must. The initial appointment will be for a one-year period, with possibility of extension based on performance and the availability of funding.
