Scholarship Description:
Professor Xin Wang’s group in the Department of Biomedical Informatics, Department of Surgery, Faculty of Medicine, The Chinese University of Hong Kong, is looking for four postdoctoral fellows, who are interested in translational research of bioinformatics, epigenetics, computational structural biology, and artificial intelligence in the field of biomedicine (age is not limited), to jointly crack important problems in life sciences and make meaningful and valuable results for medicine.
Prof. Wang received his PhD from the Department of Oncology and Institute of Cancer Research, University of Cambridge, U.K., in 2014, and did postdoctoral research in the Department of Biomedical Informatics, Harvard Medical School, from 2013 to 2015. he joined the Department of Biomedical Sciences, City University of Hong Kong, as Assistant Professor in 2015, and was promoted to Associate Professor and Associate Head of the Department in 2019. he joined The Chinese University of Hong Kong in 2021, and is currently an Associate Professor in the Department of Surgery and He joined The Chinese University of Hong Kong in 2021 as an Associate Professor in the Department of Surgery and Team Head in the Division of Biomedical Informatics.
Prof. Wang’s group has long focused on integrating new approaches in bioinformatics, systems biology, machine learning and artificial intelligence, and collaborating with experts in basic experimental and clinical fields to work on molecular biological mechanisms of diseases and apply them to early clinical screening, prognosis, treatment and monitoring. His experimental results have been published in prestigious journals in the field, such as Nature Medicine, Gastroenterology, Hepatology, Annals of Surgery, Science Advances and Nature Communications.

Recruitment post one: bioinformatics variable splicing direction
1.Job responsibilities:
- 1) Main research directions include (but not limited to) bioinformatics transcriptomics data analysis, mining and interpretation, and engage in gene variable splicing research;
- 2)Using bioinformatics, statistics, machine learning and other methods to analyze and interpret biological experimental data and provide data support and scientific insights for biological research;
- 3) Participate in the design, planning, implementation and management of bioinformatics projects, and be responsible for the processing, analysis, integration and interpretation of data to ensure the smooth execution of research projects;
- 4) Participate in the collaboration and communication of biology research teams and work closely with researchers in biology laboratories to provide bioinformatics support;
- 5) Participate in the declaration and reporting of bioinformatics research topics, prepare research reports, academic papers and patents, participate in academic conferences and academic exchanges, and present and publicize bioinformatics research results;

1.Job duties:
- 1) The main research directions include (but not limited to) data analysis work in the bioinformatics epigenetic direction of Alzheimer’s disease;

Job position three: computational structural biology
1.Job duties:
- 1) Conducting computational structural biology research, including structural modeling, simulation, analysis and interpretation of biological macromolecules such as proteins and nucleic acids, and resolving the structure-function relationship of biological molecules;
- 2)Using computational biology, bioinformatics, and computational chemistry to model and simulate biomolecular structures and dynamic processes, predict biomolecular structures and properties, and explore the functional mechanisms of biomolecules;
- 3)Participate in the design, planning, implementation and management of computational structural biology research projects, be responsible for computational simulations and data analysis, and collaborate with experimental researchers in the laboratory to promote the successful implementation of research projects;
- 4) Using computational structural biology tools and software, analyze and interpret structural biology data obtained in the laboratory;
- 5) Prepare research reports, academic papers and patents, participate in academic conferences and academic exchanges, and present and publicize computational structural biology research results.
- Application requirements:
- 1) Applicants should be majored in computational structural biology, computational biology, computational chemistry, medicine, biology, chemistry, physics, pharmacology and other related majors, and have obtained or will obtain a PhD degree;
- 2)Familiar with modeling, simulation and data analysis methods related to computational structural biology, familiar with simulation software and computational structural biology tools, with certain programming and data processing skills;

Job four: deep learning-related software development and system deployment
1.Job duties:
- 1) Participate in the design, development and optimization of biology-related software to solve problems in the field of biology using deep learning techniques;
- 2) Participate in feature extraction, model training and evaluation of biological data, and continuously optimize and improve deep learning models to enhance the accuracy and efficiency of biological data processing and analysis;
- 3) Participate in the whole life cycle of software development, including requirement analysis, system design, coding implementation, testing and maintenance to ensure the stability, security and reliability of the software;
- 4) Participate in the declaration and reporting of research projects, prepare research reports, academic papers and patents, participate in academic conferences and academic exchanges, and present and publicize the results of deep learning applications in biology research.
- Application requirements:
- 1) Applicants should be software engineering, computer, machine learning, bioinformatics or other related majors, and have obtained or will obtain a PhD degree;
- 2)Practical engineering project experience to design, develop and deploy deep learning applications;
- 3) Practical experience in software development projects and familiarity with common software engineering methods and tools;
