About the role

Orygen’s Suicide Prevention Research Team aims to prevent youth suicide by increasing access to care, building evidence and empowering young people. A researcher is required to conduct a large-scale evaluation of Orygen’s newly established aftercare service for those with suicidal ideation and/or self-harm, the Hospital Outreach Post-suicide Engagement (O-HOPE) programme. The Fellow will be responsible for establishing the evaluation framework to refine the research protocol and will then be involved in all aspects of project development and implementation, assisting with quantitative and qualitative data collection, analysis and publication writing.

Your responsibilities will include

l Participating in the research independently and working as part of the research team.
l Articulating the research questions, clarifying the level of stakeholder engagement and refining the evaluation methodology based on the evaluation framework and project logic.
l Documenting and maintaining data collection, identifying data sources, implementing consent procedures and liaising internally with key stakeholders.
l Contribute to data analysis using specialist quantitative and data analysis software such as NVivo and SPSS and/or Stata and/or R.

Who we are looking for

You will have a strong interest in adolescent mental health disorders and interventions. You will be able to demonstrate your ability to contribute to research and outcomes, including papers, conference proceedings and translational outcomes, and be able to work independently or as part of a team.

You will also have

l a postgraduate degree (Honours, MSc or PhD) in a behavioural or social science discipline
