Scholarship Description:

The School of Computing and Information Systems (SCIS) at Singapore Management University (SMU) is recruiting fully-funded PhD students in the areas of Human-Computer Interaction (HCI), Human-Intelligent Body Interaction (HIBI), Virtual and Augmented Reality (VAR), and Human-Robot Interaction (HRI), with a focus on combining Artificial Intelligence (AI), Interaction Design (ID), and Robotics (Robotics) methodologies to design the next generation of virtual and physical intelligent assistants. OpenAI GPTs, Apple Vision Pro, consumer robots on the horizon… the paradigm shift in personal computing is just around the corner, join us to explore the frontiers of the wave.

Jiannan LI (https://jchrisli.github.io) is a Ph.D. from the University of Toronto, with active research, publication experience at top conferences (CHI, UIST, CSCW, VR), and extensive collaborations in North America and Asia.

Scholarship 2700SGD-3200SGD (after 16 months), about 14,500-17,200, admission with top club publication can upgrade the scholarship to 3750SGD (~21k).
The school has by far the largest HCI community in Singapore (5 professors, see https://smuhci.com) and often organises island-wide lectures and workshops with a lively atmosphere. The campus is located in the city centre, directly connected by several MRT lines, making life convenient and abundant.
