Scholarship Description:

The University of Alabama is a public research university located in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. Founded in 1831, it is the flagship campus of the University of Alabama system and is one of the oldest, largest, and most beautiful campuses in the country. According to the 2023 U.S. News & World Report, the University of Alabama is ranked a Tier 1 National University (R1), with the College of Engineering ranked 99th in the nation. The University of Alabama’s Department of Electrical Engineering and Computing (ECE) has 26 tenure-track/tenured professors whose research interests include power systems, power electronics, automotive engineering, transportation systems, and remote sensing control. The University of Alabama’s ECE department has several major research centres, including the Advanced Vehicle Technologies Center. The university is located in Tuscaloosa, a city with a rich automotive industry, and has a long-standing and close research collaboration with the German R&D department of Mercedes-Benz. The University of Alabama football team is ranked in the top five in the nation and has won numerous awards.

Dr Lusha Wang will join the University of Alabama’s College of Electrical Engineering and Computing (ECE) as a tenure-track assistant professor in August 2023. Prior to joining the University of Alabama, Dr Wang was a postdoctoral researcher at Argonne National Lab in the United States. Dr Wang has worked on several DOE projects as a technical lead, developed large-scale distribution network model transformation tools for use in industry, applied for several DOE grants as an ANL Principle Investigator (PI), and collaborated with national laboratories (ANL, NREL, PNNL), industry (Exelon, PNNL), and the United States. He has a long history of working closely with industry (Exelon, ComEd, Eaton, Hitachi) and the US Department of Energy (VTO, EERE, SETO), and his research has been published in leading electrical and energy engineering journals.
