Scholarship Description:
The PhD student will be supported with very competitive scholarship. The starting time can be Fall 2023. The research directions are focused on data science and machine learning with application to brain imaging and medical imaging. We have established good collaboration with prestigious groups at Harvard Medical School and CincinnatiChildren’s Hospital (brain imaging, histopathology image analysis).
Dr. Feng Liu is currently an assistant professor at Stevens Institute of Technology as an Assistant Professor in Fall 2020. He joined Stevens from Harvard Medical School as a Postdoctoral fellow. He also holds a research affiliate appointment at Picower Institute for Learning and Memory at MIT. He is a guest editor for Brain Informatics, and his research won best paper awards at the International Conference of Brain Informatics and INFORMS Data Mining Society. His research has been published in IEEE TMI, IEEE TBD, IEEE TSG, MICCAI, AAAI, Nature NPJ precision oncology.
Founded in 1870, Stevens Institute of Technology is a premier research university situated in Hoboken, New Jersey overlooking the Manhattan skyline. Hoboken is a top college town with about 10 minutes distance to Manhattan. The ranking of Stevens is #80. For Industrial Engineering/System Engineering the ranking is #33 according to the USNEWS 2021. In recent years, Stevens invest significantly in the direction of AI for Healthcare by improving research facilities and establishing collaborations with major hospitals.

Eligibility criteria:
- Desirable PhD applicants may have a background in Computer Science, Automatic Control, Electrical Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics,
- Software Engineering or other related fields.
- A Master degree in related fields is preferred;
- GRE and TOEFL can be waived for strong candidate.
- The candidate should have solid math foundation, good English writing and presentation skills, good programming skills in Python and Matlab.
