Scholarship Description:

Two (2) PhD research assistant positions are available in the Informatics, Cobots and Intelligent Construction (ICIC) lab, in the Department of Civil Engineering at University of Florida, to work on a research project funded by NSF and NASA to investigate the use of Virtual Reality (VR) for Human-Robot Collaboration. The expected start date is January 1, 2022. The student’s advisor will be Dr. Eric Jing Du. The work will be interdisciplinary by nature, spanning over Virtual Reality, robotics and automation, and civil engineering.

To work on a project funded by NSF and NASA to study Human-Robot Collaboration in altered construction workplaces. Specific responsibilities include:

Available Subjects:

Industrial and System Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or related fields.

Eligibility criteria:

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: 

B.S. in Industrial and System Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or related fields. Other general admission requirements (TOEFL, GRE, GPA, etc.) please refer to:

DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS: 

Interests and experiences related to the following academic areas:

1) Virtual Reality (Unity game engine);

2) Robotics and Automation;

3) Computing (programming, AI).

ASSISTANTSHIP PACKAGE: 

Competitive stipend, full tuition waiver, and healthcare. Room & board expenses will be covered for research travels (conferences, data collections).
