Scholarship Description:
Group profile: Bo Hu’s group in the Department of Immunology at St Jude Children’s Hospital is focused on neuroimmunology and is dedicated to investigating the interaction between the nervous and immune systems in physiological and pathological processes using a variety of interdisciplinary approaches, including single cell sequencing, proteomics, spatial transcriptomics and laminar imaging. The group is well funded and has established stable and long-term collaborations with several teams.
PI profile: Bo Hu received his PhD from Yale University in 2013, during which he studied under Professor Richard Flavell, one of the world’s leading immunologists. He then held a postdoctoral fellowship at the Dana-Farber Cancer Research Center at Harvard University under the supervision of Professor Bruce Spiegelman, a pioneer and leader in the field of lipid and metabolism. In recent years, Bo has published several papers as first and co-first author, elucidating novel functions and mechanisms of the immune system in metabolic diseases (Nature, 2020), tissue damage (Science, 2016) and cancer (PNAS, 2013, 2010; Nature Reviews Cancer, 2013, Cell, 2014), with particular reference to pioneering results in immune-neural interactions. The lab has several promising projects in progress and is looking for talented individuals with a variety of backgrounds, especially in neurobiology, immunology, metabolism and proteomics.

Eligibility criteria:
- (1) A PhD in neuroscience, immunology, molecular biology, biochemistry or other related fields.
- (2) Strong English reading and writing skills, proficient in reading English literature, and have published or are currently submitting at least one research paper as first or co-first author in a mainstream journal in the field;
- (3) have the ability to work independently, good learning ability and cooperation spirit, good at communication;
- (4) have a solid experimental foundation and be willing to conduct independent research under the guidance of the PI.
