Scholarship Description:
The Power Electronic Systems Laboratory in the Department of Electrical Engineering at The University of Texas at Arlington is now accepting several full-time PhD students for the autumn of 2023. Accepted students will work with Professor Liwei Zhou on research in areas related to power electronics.
The University of Texas at Arlington is one of 146 R1 advanced research universities in the United States (representing the highest category of doctoral research in the country). cultural centre of North Texas. The major components of the metropolitan area’s economy are banking, trade, communications, technology, energy and health care. As of 2022, DFW is home to 23 Fortune 500 companies. This makes DFW the fourth largest concentration of Fortune 500 companies in the country. Texas Instruments, a world-renowned leader in semiconductors and chips, is headquartered just a half-hour from UTA, providing easy access to university partnerships and internship opportunities.
Professor Liwei Zhou is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Electrical Engineering at the University of Texas at Arlington. He received his bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Shandong University in 2014 and 2017, respectively. Liwei Zhou received his Ph.D. from the Department of Electrical Engineering at Columbia University in 2022. His research interests include power electronics, advanced converter control techniques, optimal design of grid-connected converters, and optimal design of new energy and electric vehicle charging systems. Professor Zhou has published over 50 research papers in leading industry journals and conferences. He holds four patents for his inventions and has a book forthcoming from the internationally renowned publisher Springer. Professor Zhou has organised and chaired several prestigious international conferences, including Tutorial/Short Course Chair in ITEC 2023, Topic Chair in ECCE 2023, and Session Chair in ITEC 2022 and ITEC 2023.
