Scholarship Description:
City University of Hong Kong (CityU), a world-renowned international public research comprehensive university, is ranked 54th in the 2023 QS World University Rankings. Professor Penghao Duan is currently an Assistant Professor at City University of Hong Kong. He received his undergraduate degree from Tongji University – Politecnico di Milano; his master’s degree from ETH Zurich; and completed his master’s thesis as a ZKS Bonus Scholar at MIT, U.S.A. He graduated from Oxford University with a Ph. He was an adjunct professor at Nanjing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics. His research interests are focused on aero-engine optimization design, multi-scale fluid computation, fluid-solid coupled heat transfer computation, computational mesh generation, and fluid computation software development. He is the reviewer of several journals and conferences, the session chair of Global Power and Propulsion Society (GPPS) 2022 conference, and the review organizer of Chinese International Turbomachinery Conference 2022. He has received the Student Advisory Committee Award and Early Career Engineer Award from the Gas Turbine Society of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers.

The PI will tailor the research plan to the applicant’s needs, discuss it with the applicant, and provide support based on the following:
1, abundant computing resources, with a high performance computing cluster at the City University of Hong Kong, and in the process of building the group’s own computing platform;
2, the research environment is pure, in accordance with the training model of world-class laboratories, focus on academic research, no chores, every effort to ensure that students can do in-depth, impactful research, without distractions.
3, promote cross-laboratory and interdisciplinary cooperation and exchange

Eligibility criteria:
- Ph.D.: Bachelor’s degree; TOEFL score of 79 or higher or IELTS score of 6.5 or higher;
- Research Assistant: Bachelor’s degree
- Postdoctoral: Ph.D. degree
