Application deadlines: Open

Scholarship Description:

OrrLab is an interdisciplinary research lab focused on biological network systems, particularly gene regulatory networks, aging, and physiological networks. We develop innovative computational methods from fields such as artificial intelligence, computational biology, ecology, nonlinear dynamics, statistical mechanics, and network science. Our theories and approaches are rigorously validated through biological experiments conducted in our lab, ensuring scientific precision and applicability.

Our goal is to enhance the understanding of tissue biology and physiology, leading to better diagnostics and therapeutics that improve patient care. We explore the relationships between the structure and dynamics of complex networks, which are essential for tissue function and stability.

Our lab collaborates with Prof. Ruslan Medzhitov at Yale School of Medicine, Prof. Yang-Yu Liu at Harvard Medical School, and Prof. Shlomo Havlin at Bar-Ilan University.

 Available Subjects:

My research focuses on gene regulatory networks and tissue biology to improve our ability to control tissue states, understand functional decline at cellular and tissue levels, and develop recovery strategies.

Eligibility criteria:

  • Postdoctoral Candidates with a PhD in any science or engineering field, particularly in math, physics, electrical engineering, software engineering, computer science, computational biology or biology, are encouraged to apply. Self-motivated individuals with a theoretical and computational background is a must. An advantage would be given to those with experimental background, especially in in-vitro cells experiments. The selected candidate will have the opportunity to develop their own research project while mentoring student projects. Successful candidates are expected to contribute to high-impact publications.
  • PhD Position. Students with a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in any science or engineering field are encouraged to apply. Self-motivated candidates with a strong academic foundation are particularly welcome. Research experience in either experimentation or simulation, as well as publications, is preferred but not required.

Application Procedure:

Interested candidates should contact Dr. Levy at [email protected] with the following details: anticipated start date, transcripts (for PhD applicants), and a CV detailing academic and/or research achievements. Application reviews will begin immediately and continue until positions are filled. Applicants with a strong fit will be contacted for an interview. For more information, visit OrrLab.
