Scholarship Description:

The Luo Lab (https://yutingluo.wse.jhu.edu/ ) is a multidisciplinary team within the Department of Materials Science and Engineering and ROSEI at Johns Hopkins University, focusing on multi-scale materials design and advanced materials characterisation for energy storage and other energy-related applications. We have extensive collaborations with the Department of Chemistry, Department of Chemical Engineering, Applied Physics Laboratory, Argonne National Laboratory, and Brookhaven National Laboratory.

We are now seeking 1-2 postdoctoral researchers to join us in a collaborative environment to develop novel solid-state chemistry materials synthesis, electrochemistry approaches, electrochemical characterisation, materials engineering, device design for applications including but not limited to solid-state batteries, Li-ion/Na-ion/Mg-ion etc. batteries, water desalination and flexible devices.

Eligibility criteria:

  • Ph.D. in chemistry, materials science and engineering, chemical engineering or other related field.
  • Expertise in any of the following areas: electrochemistry, nanomaterials, thin films, interfacial chemistry/engineering, inorganic chemistry, materials characterisation, solid-state chemistry.
  • Candidates should be able to work collaboratively in a group and have strong skills in project design, experimental skills, data analysis and problem solving.
  • Excellent writing and communication skills are essential.
