Scholarship Description:

A postdoc position is open in the Cai Lab, part of the Health Technology and Engineering Institute (Tech4Health) at NYU Grossman School of Medicine (NYUGSOM, ranked # 2 in US medical schools by ‘U.S. News & World Report’). We are also open to PhD applicants in Bioengineering. We build new paradigms of nanotechnology for use in biological and biomedical applications, including nano-engineered cell interfaces for mechanobiology study and biosensing. Our recent publications in this field include: Nature Materials, 2019, 18, 1366. Nature Nanotechnology, 2018, 13, 610. The postdoc will receive competitive stipend and benefits such as health insurance and university housing. The postdoc will receive competitive stipend and benefits such as health insurance and university housing.

The Tech4Health Institute serves as a hub for the development of new enabling technologies that will advance basic biomedical discovery and clinical care, with close collaboration with biologists and clinicians at NYUGSOM, as well as scientists and engineers from worldwide prestigious institutions. The institute is located in the NYU Langone Health superblock in midtown Manhattan. Immersed in the unique vibrant and innovative environment of the New York City, and one of the foremost medical schools in the world, this is an ideal place to develop engineering technologies to improve human health, a mission never more relevant than today. Available Subjects:

Engineering, biophysics, biology, chemistry, materials science or other related fields.

Eligibility criteria:

The postdoc candidates must have a PhD in engineering, biophysics, biology, chemistry, materials science or other related fields. Those with a background in mechanobiology, nano-bio interfaces, biosensing, and expertise in selective surface biofunctionalization (self-assembled monolayer, biolinkers/ligands, DNA as linker/probe/scaffolds, supported lipid bilayer, etc), soft materials (elastomer, hydrogel, etc), cell assays, fluorescence microscopy, atomic force microscopy, nanofabrication (soft lithography, block copolymer micelle nanolithography, or e-beam lithography, etc) are encouraged to apply. Experience that spans multiple fields is a plus. We seek candidates who are strongly motivated, open-minded, and capable of both independent and collaborative research work. Demonstrated ingenuity, productivity, communication and writing skills, and an excellent record of publications is preferred.

Application Procedure:

To apply, send your CV to Dr. Haogang Cai, at [email protected]. Please include a detailed description of your research interests, a full list of publications, and names of three references. This position will remain open until filled.
