Scholarship Description:

The Shenzhen Institute of Big Data (hereinafter referred to as: the Institute) is a basic research institution in Shenzhen established by the Shenzhen Municipal People’s Government with the support of The Chinese University of Hong Kong (Shenzhen), located in the campus of The Chinese University of Hong Kong (Shenzhen) in Longgang District, Shenzhen. The Institute conducts scientific and theoretical research and technical research in three key research areas: the fundamental theory of big data, the new computing system for big data, and the intelligent application technology driven by big data. The current team of the Institute consists of world-renowned data scientists who have extensive e

The laboratory of Dr. Fabio Morgante at the new Clemson University Center for Human Genetics (CHG) invites applications for a postdoctoral fellow as part of the recently awarded NIH COBRE in Human Genetics grant.

Dr. Morgante’s interests lie in quantitative and statistical genetics. In particular, research in his lab focuses not only on understanding the genetic architecture of complex traits and diseases, but also on using this information to improve phenotypic prediction accuracy for such traits. To achieve this goal, his group works at the intersection of genetics, data science, and statistics. More information can be found at https://morgantelab.com/.

The responsibilities of the successful candidate will include (but not be limited to):

§  Developing statistical methods for the analysis of complex traits (e.g., to account for context-dependent effects).

§  Analyzing large human genetic and phenotypic datasets (e.g., UK Biobank).

§  Publishing manuscripts.

§  Giving presentations at national and/or international meetings.

The fellow will work closely with Dr. Morgante and other members of his group as well as collaborators at the CHG and elsewhere. The fellow will also benefit greatly from the close interaction with researchers and clinicians at the Greenwood Genetic Center.

Available Subjects:

Quantitative Genetics, Statistical Genetics, Computational Biology or other quantitative disciplines.
