The Yang lab (https://ccr.cancer.gov/staff-directory/chunzhang-yang) has been devoted to investigating the unique metabolic phenotype and molecular signaling in brain tumors. Their research aims to systematically explore epigenetic changes in oncometabolite-driven cancers, characterizing critical epigenetic targets within DNA repair, metabolism, and therapy resistance pathways, utilizing genetic and biochemical approaches. The mechanistic findings will be verified through in vitro and in vivo models, patient-derived specimens for validation, and experimental therapeutics designed based on preliminary findings. These findings provide strong justifications for future clinical translation and application.
We are currently inviting postdoctoral researchers to join our collaborative team. The research aims to systematically explore epigenetic changes in oncometabolite-driven cancers, characterizing critical epigenetic targets within DNA repair, metabolism, and therapy resistance pathways, using genetic and biochemical approaches. Mechanistic findings will be verified through in vitro and in vivo models, patient-derived specimens for validation, and experimental therapeutics designed based on preliminary findings. - Our laboratory is dedicated to supporting the scientific career development of postdoctoral trainees, commensurate with their demonstrated achievements. We offer a unique research opportunity in an emerging field with significant implications for both fundamental and translational research.
Eligibility criteria:
The ideal candidate should:
- 1. Possess a Ph.D. degree, preferably in biochemistry, molecular biology, genetics, or a related field, and be in the final stages of completing degree requirements. They should have no more than five years of postdoctoral research experience.
- 2. Be highly motivated and capable of conducting semi-independent research while collaborating effectively within an interdisciplinary team.
- 3. Collect and analyze data, as well as generate novel ideas to advance current research.
- 4. Prepare comprehensive data summaries, reports, manuscripts, and presentations of research findings.
- 5. Contribute to manuscript writing for publication in scientific journals and/or assist in grant writing.
- 6. Stay informed about advancements in the field to continually enhance professional expertise.
- 7. Maintain the laboratory, including equipment maintenance and ordering supplies as necessary.
- 8. Possess the ability to teach techniques, train, and mentor junior research staff.
- 9. Demonstrate strong expertise in cell biology, molecular biology, and next-generation sequencing, particularly in mRNA sequencing, ChIP seq, ChIPcut and run, and ChIP cut and tag assays.
- 10. Have direct experience in cell cycle-related research, including synchronization, microscopy, and flow cytometry detection.
- 11. Possess proficiency in routine laboratory techniques such as cell culture and transfection, DNA cloning and subcloning, and site-directed mutagenesis.
- 12. Exhibit excellent communication skills, both spoken and written in English, essential for effective multidisciplinary research.
