Scholarship Description:
University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston (UTHeatlth Houston), Xiaotian Zhang’s lab is recruiting a postdoctoral fellow in the area of gene transcriptional regulation and phase segregation in leukaemia.
The laboratory of Dr Xiaotian Zhang at the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston is seeking 1-2 postdoctoral fellows. Dr. Zhang graduated from Fudan University in 2010 and received his Ph.D. from Baylor in 2016. Dr Zhang was a special fellow and research investigator at the Van Andel Institute, University of Michigan from 2017 to 2022. Dr Zhang was the first author of the Nature Genetics paper that revealed the synergistic role of DNA methylation and demethylation in leukemogenesis, and constructed an efficient methylation transferase system. During his tenure as Van Andel Special Fellow, Dr Zhang formed a team and published several articles as corresponding author in Cancer Discovery, Molecular Cell, Blood, eLife, focusing on transcriptional and 3D genomic regulation of gene expression in leukaemia maintenance and hematogenesis.
Available Subjects:
- 1. Transcriptional Hijacking by mutant NPM1 in acute myeloid leukemia development and maintenance
- 2. Chromatin and transcriptional regulation by nuclear export machineries in development and cancer
- 3. Polycomb and TF mediated 3D genomic structure in cancer and normal physiology.
Eligibility criteria:
- Applicants will conduct their own scientific research under the guidance of discussions with Dr Zhang. The PI of the laboratory will provide strong career development support to the postdoctoral fellow. The Houston area has a large Chinese population, a climate similar to Shanghai, with warmer winters and a low cost of living, making it very livable and suitable for families and singles. The Texas Medical Center houses many medical research institutions such as Rice University, Baylor College of Medicine, and MD Anderson, among others. The TMC area is rich in medical research resources and academic exchange activities. The laboratory will collaborate with many leading laboratories in the TMC area and other international laboratories such as Nancy Huang @ TAMU IBT, Yubin Zhou @ TAMU IBT, Wenbo Li @ UTHSC Houston, Liling Wan @ Upenn, Shasha Chong @ Caltech. Caltech is collaborating.
Application Procedure:
Interested postdoctoral Candidates should contact Dr Zhang directly at [email protected]
Please send your CV to Dr. Zhang’s email address. (Contact details of two referees are required in the CV.) If you have your own ideas, you are welcome to write a short research statement and send it along.
