Scholarship: Fully-funded
Degree: B.S./M.S.
Nationality: International Students
Location: Germany
Application deadlines: Open

Scholarship Description:

The Leibniz Institute for Analytical Sciences in Dortmund, Germany, is one of 96 institutes of the Leibniz Society (together with the Helmholtz Society, the Max Planck Society and the Fraunhofer Society, the four largest research societies in Germany), which has a total annual research budget of nearly €2 billion.

Jianxu Chen, PhD in Computer Science, graduated from the University of Notre Dame and worked at the Allen Institute for Cell Science, where he led the development of algorithms and deployment of models for large-scale high-dimensional microscopy image analysis based on artificial intelligence, and publicly released a multi-million volume database of three-dimensional cellular microscopy images. He currently leads the AMBIOM research group, which focuses on algorithmic research, tool development and data development for microscopy image analysis driven by real-world biomedical problems. He has extensive collaborations with researchers in the USA, Germany, Sweden, China and other countries. He has published more than 30 papers in Nature, Nature Methods, Nature Machine Intelligence, Nature Communications, IEEE TMI, NeurIPS, AAAI, MICCAI, ISBI, BIBM, etc. Lab homepage: https://mmv-lab.github.io/

Artificial intelligence-based high-dimensional microscopy image analysis research, such as image segmentation, image alignment, high-dimensional reconstruction, image restoration, and so on. In addition to algorithm development, the lab collaborates with the German National Research Data Infrastructure Foundation (NRDF) to develop open-source image processing tools and large-scale AI databases. The lab is equipped with 40 high-performance A100 GPU computing platforms.
