Scholarship Description:
Shurui Zhou (https://www.eecg.utoronto.ca/~shuruiz/) is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Electrical & Computer Engineering and the Department of Computer Science at the University of Toronto. She obtained her Ph.D. in May. 2020 in the Institute for Software Research, School of Computer Science at Carnegie Mellon University. She received her Master’s degree from Peking University, and her Bachelor’s degree from Xi’an Jiaotong University. Her FORCOLAB (https://shuiblue.github.io/forcolab-uoft/) focuses on helping distributed and interdisciplinary software teams to collaborate more efficiently, especially in the context of modern open-source collaboration forms, and interdisciplinary teams when building scientific software or AI-enabled systems. She also applies best practices in software engineering to support better collaborative CAD design. To achieve her goals, she combines advances in tooling and software engineering principles with insights from other disciplines that study human collaboration, for which she combines and mixes a wide range of research methods.
