Scholarship Description:
Dr. Zhengjie Zhou will join Temple University’s Lewis Katz School of Medicine, Center for Inflammation and Lung Research, as a tenure-track Assistant Professor on August 1.
Dr. Zhou earned his bachelor’s degree from Lanzhou University in 2013 and his Ph.D. in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology from East China Normal University in 2018. He then joined the lab of Matthew Tirrell, an esteemed member of the National Academy of Sciences, focusing on nanomedicine, translational medicine, and cardiovascular biology. In 2023, Dr. Zhou received the prestigious NIH/NHLBI K99/R00 Career Development Award, securing over one million dollars in research funding. He has also been awarded multiple international patents and travel grants for conferences.
His research is at the forefront of cardiovascular and lung injury biology, focusing on the regulatory mechanisms of specific cell types, such as endothelial, epithelial, and immune cells, in health and disease. He aims to develop cell-specific nanotherapeutics with significant clinical translation potential. Dr. Zhou’s work seeks to identify new therapeutic targets, elucidate disease mechanisms, and provide effective, safe treatments. His lab is well-funded and has established extensive collaborations with renowned institutions like the University of Chicago and Northwestern University, offering high-level collaboration and exchange opportunities for lab members.
