Scholarship Description:

Dr Li Yiwen (Assistant Professor) from the Department of Electromechanical Engineering at the University of Macau has a multidisciplinary research background in additive manufacturing technologies, polymer materials, hydrogel materials and biomedical engineering. He received his undergraduate degree (First Class Honours) from Imperial College London, UK, in 2016 and his Ph.D. from the University of Cambridge, UK, in 2022, where he was awarded the Outstanding Ph.D. Student Award by the Cambridge Society for the Application of Research, the International Biomanufacturing Award, and the International Biomimetic Model Award. During this time, he was awarded the Outstanding PhD Student Award by the Cambridge Society for the Application of Research, the International Biomanufacturing Award and the International Biomimetic Model Award. During this time, he was awarded the Cambridge Society for the Application of Research Outstanding PhD Student Award, the International Society for Biofabrication Outstanding PhD Student Award, the W D Armstrong Scholarship at the University of Cambridge, and was selected as one of the participants of the Global Young Scientists Summit in 2022. In recent years, his research has focused on biomimetic structures, soft matter materials and structural mechanical design, and he has published scientific papers in international journals, including Nat. Commun. The group has a strong academic atmosphere, encourages the discussion of different academic views and academic innovation, and aims to cultivate independent researchers and create a high level of healthy academic atmosphere. The PI of the group has many years of overseas experience and maintains close cooperation with the groups at the University of Cambridge and the Southern University of Science and Technology.
