Scholarship Description:

The city of Odense, where the main campus of the University of Southern Denmark is located, is the home of Hans Christian Andersen and is surrounded by the sea, beautiful scenery and a pleasant climate. The Faculty of Science at the Odense campus not only has newly built, spacious and comfortable laboratories and offices, a friendly working atmosphere, but also some of the world’s leading scholars in chemical sciences, catalysis and nucleic acids; the world’s leading microscopic imaging centre, functional genomics centre, marine workstations and so on. Our faculty and students have published over 200 papers in Nature, Science and PNAS alone.

Jasmin Mecinovic is currently an Associate Professor and PhD Director in the Department of Chemistry.Jasmin graduated with a PhD in organic chemistry from the Univerisity of Oxford in 2009 and conducted postdoctoral research at Harvard Univerisity from 2009 to 2011. He joined the University of Southern Denmark as a tenured Associate Professor in 2018.

Eligibility criteria:

Candidates with one of the following qualifications are encouraged to apply:

  • interested in applying for CSC scholarship funding
  • Master or PhD degree in organic chemistry or biochemistry
  • English meets the criteria for applying to the CSC (a language certificate can be granted after a satisfactory interview)
  • Applicants should preferably have a track record of publishing articles
