Scholarship Description:

Prof. Jun Qu’s group in SUNY Buffalo’s Department of Pharmacy (ranked in the top 5 in the US, the cradle of modern PK PD) is currently recruiting students with a background in bioanalysis, pharmaceutical analysis and chemistry and biology for PhD studies. The group is a world leader in quantitative protein analysis and proteomics. The laboratory is well funded and has published many articles in Nature Protocol, Nature Communications, PNAS and Analytical Chemistry in recent years. In addition to undertaking a large number of NIH and DOD projects, the laboratory works closely with major pharmaceutical companies worldwide, including Pfizer, Roche, Genentech, AbbVie, Sanofi and Amgen, in protein drug discovery and clinical disease marker discovery. In addition, there is a collaboration with mass spectrometry company Thermo Fisher Scientific with state-of-the-art LC-MS equipment. The laboratory currently has two postdocs and seven PhDs in progress, with a number of dedicated technical experts to work with everyone. The laboratory provides students with a wide range of living support and hardware, sponsors students to attend at least one national or international conference per year, and supports their personal development. Upon graduation, students are recommended for senior research positions in major pharmaceutical companies. The laboratory has a very friendly atmosphere and everyone works together as a family to help each other in life and work.

In addition, you live in Amherst NY, one of the safest towns in the USA, in a beautiful environment, next to Niagara Falls and only an hour and a half drive to Toronto (which has the best Chinese food and Chinatown in the continent).

Eligibility criteria:

  • Experience in substance use disorder, DNA single strand and double strand breaks, integration of multi-omics data analysis, or programing with R.
  • Good at communicating, problem solving, and decision making.
