Scholarship Description:
Directing the SafeAI Lab, Prof Zhao aims to resolve fundamental challenges of trustworthy AI to deploy learning methods to impactful real-world safety-critical applications. The lab is supported by world-class industrial partners, including Uber, Ford, Toyota, Rolls Royce, and Bosch. Applications cover hot topics in mobility and healthcare, including self-driving, intelligent manufacturing, smart cities, smart home, brain-machine interface, cybersecurity, and privacy, etc. We recruit students from Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science, and Robotics Institute. CMU ranks #4 in engineering overall and #1 in artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, and robotics by US News.

Statistical machine learning, robotics, and/or cognition/neuroscience
Eligibility criteria:
- Preferably with publication records in statistical machine learning, robotics, and/or cognition/neuroscience.
