Scholarship Description:

The student will conduct research on creating innovative sensing, artificial intelligence, and robotic techniques (particularly human-robot collaboration) to enhance construction automation and robotics,and smart civil infrastructure and building management.

Dr. Jiannan Cai is an assistant professor in Construction Science and Management at UTSA. She earned her Ph.D. degree in Civil Engineering from Purdue University. She holds a Master’s and a Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from Tongji University, China. Her research interests lie in innovative technologies and applications of artificial intelligence, computer vision, sensing, and robotics (particularly human-robot collaboration) in construction, building, and civil infrastructure management.

Available Subjects:

Civil engineering, construction engineering and management, electrical and computer engineering, mechanical engineering

Eligibility criteria:

  • • Students with a M.S. degree in civil engineering, construction engineering and management, electrical and computer engineering, mechanical engineering, or other related fields are preferred.
  • • Students with programming skills and experience are preferred (Python, C++).
  • • Students with deep learning and robotics (e.g., ROS, Unity3D, Gazebo) skills and experience are preferred.• Outstanding undergraduate students will also be favorably considered.
  • • For international students, TOEFL or IELTS is required, GRE is optional.
