Scholarship Description:

The Department of Microbiology at The Chinese University of Hong Kong has a long-standing research interest in microbial-related diseases, especially carcinogenic pathogens. The team is now recruiting a number of post-docs and research assistants.

The successful candidates will be based in Prince of Wales Hospital, Shatin. Responsibilities include (1) literature review; (2) assisting in designing experiments; (3) assisting in conducting research projects; and (4) assisting in maintaining laboratory equipment/consumables/inventory.

Biomedical sciences, cancer biology, chemistry or a related area. 

Eligibility criteria:

Postdoctoral:
Applicants should have (1) a PhD in virology, microbiology or related discipline obtained within the last five years; (2) a research background in biomedical sciences, cancer biology, chemistry or related disciplines; (3) proficiency in cell biology, molecular biology techniques including cell culture, protein analysis, cloning and animal experiments; (4) good ability to coordinate research tasks; ( 5) Excellent verbal and written communication skills; (6) Careful and conscientious, motivated, honest and team-oriented. Experience in compound design and development is preferred.

The successful candidate will be based in Prince of Wales Hospital, Shatin. Responsibilities include (1) literature review and experimental design; (2) undertaking and conducting research projects independently; (3) providing guidance to graduate students; (4) writing papers and applying for project funds; (5) managing laboratory equipment and consumables.

Scientific Research Assistant:
Applicants should have (1) a master’s degree, or a bachelor’s degree with at least two years of work experience; (2) a background in basic research in biomedicine, microbiology, biotechnology, or a related discipline; (3) proficiency in cell/molecular biology techniques, including cell culture, protein analysis, RNA/DNA extraction, sequencing, cloning, and animal experiments; (4) excellent oral and written communication skills; (5) a good work ethic, and the ability to work independently; (6) active participation in team work
