  2. Postdoctoral Research Position Summary: Software Security Associate Researcher
This associate researcher/researcher position in software security will work on enhancing the security of web browsers by leveraging CHERI partitioning techniques. The purpose of this work is to demonstrate how real-world web browsers, such as Chrome, can take advantage of the CHERI security model. Web browsers are important on systems, but due to their size and complexity they present a large attack surface: they are magnets for attackers and often have overt attacks. Chrome already partitions itself into distinct processes, but we want to explore how this can be furthered by more fine-grained partitioning: what are the trade-offs of doing so? Using CHERI will make communication within intervals much faster, so how can we take advantage of this when considering where to place interval boundaries?

  3. Postdoctoral Research Position Summary: Assistant Researcher on Human-Centered Security in Artificial Intelligence Assistants
Artificial intelligence assistants are being integrated into everyday life in unprecedented ways, from personal AI assistants running in our smartphones and homes, to corporate AI assistants that improve productivity in the workplace, to health AI assistants. In the UK alone, 7 million users interact with AI assistants every day and 13 million every week. A key question is how secure AI assistants are, as they use AI extensively and are constantly learning. In addition, AI assistants are complex systems with different AI models interacting with each other and with the broader ecosystem in which the various stakeholders and AI assistants are embedded. In addition to the technical complexity, it is well known that the mental models of users of AI assistants are very incomplete and they do not know how to protect themselves.

  4. Summary of Postdoctoral Research Position: Assistant Researcher in Genomics. Genetics of Depression in Africa
This is a 3-year postdoctoral position that will lead the data collection pipeline and statistical genetic analyses aimed at generating new hypotheses for the etiology and treatment of mental disorders in African populations. The position is expected to be based at Addis Ababa University for 1/3 to 1/2 of the year. You will have the opportunity to grow in this position and also have the opportunity to lead your research. The incumbent will also collaborate with collaborators and consortia of which we are a part, particularly from the MDD group of the Psychiatric Genomics Consortium. The incumbent will ideally already have experience in psychiatric or behavioral genetics or have a strong interest in mental health or behavior.

  5. Postdoctoral Research Position Summary: Biology Research Assistant
We are seeking an experienced postdoctoral fellow to join our team to work on the emergence and plasticity of GABAergic synapses in the mouse brain. The candidate should have knowledge of neuroscience and expertise in in vivo imaging using multiphoton microscopy. Specifically, the project will involve the delivery of genetically encoded probes and activity modifiers in developing neurons to study how activity alters synaptogenesis and pruning of synapses between cortical neurons.

  7. Summary of Postdoctoral Research Position: Biology Research Assistant
The postdoc appointed to this grant will work as part of a team that will participate in a phase 1 clinical trial in children receiving heart transplants. The postdoc will be responsible for purifying and amplifying regulatory T cells (Tregs) directly from thymus samples, first in the laboratory and then transferring the protocol to a GMP facility. During the first few months, the postdoc will have the opportunity to study the phenotype and function of Treg subpopulations in the thymus (which are poorly understood in humans), and then the postdoc will transfer to the GMP facility to be trained and then generate 9 autologous Treg products once the trial is approved by the MHRA.
