Scholarship Description:

Dr. Luo received his Ph.D summa cum laude from the University of Magdeburg, Germany in 2007, completed his postdoctoral fellowship and instructorship with 2019 Nobel Laureate Dr. Gregg L. Semenza at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine before joining UTSW. Dr. Luo lab is particularly interested in understanding the crosstalk of oxygen homeostasis, epigenetics, and metabolism in cancer development and brain diseases (Nature Communications 2021; Cancer Res 2021; Cancer Res 2020; JCI 2018; NAR 2018; Cell 2011). The cutting-edge techniques including mouse models, next generation sequencing, and metabolomics are used in our studies. Our research is supported by NCI, CPRIT, and private foundations.

 Available Subjects:

Hypoxia-dependent gene regulation and metabolism in cancer and brain

Eligibility criteria:

Interested candidates must have 1) a strong background in biochemistry, molecular biology, and oncology or neuroscience, 2) a strong publication record, and 3) good communication skills. Experience with bioinformatics is a plus. Competitive salary and benefits are offered.
